Bucknell Names Kristine A. Brown Vice President for Strategic Communications & Marketing
Following a national search, Bucknell University has announced the appointment of Kristine A. Brown, a communications and marketing leader with more than two decades of experience spanning higher education, healthcare, government and the non-profit sector — most recently as vice president of external affairs at Rider University — as vice president for strategic communications & marketing. She will begin her tenure on Dec. 15.
In her current position, Brown oversees all facets of communications, marketing, digital strategy, media and government relations, community engagement and corporate partnerships. During her tenure, she has led award-winning initiatives that strengthened Rider's brand reputation, produced record application numbers and enhanced digital engagement across platforms.
"Kristine Brown brings exceptional depth of experience in strategic communications, brand management and institutional storytelling," says Bucknell President John C. Bravman. "Her proven ability to unify messaging, manage complex issues and elevate an institution's visibility will be invaluable as Bucknell continues to expand its reach and reputation."
At Rider, Brown has guided comprehensive efforts to align communications and marketing with institutional goals. As the institution's chief government relations officer, she has cultivated relationships with local, state and federal stakeholders, advancing advocacy initiatives and building meaningful community partnerships. She previously oversaw Rider's first-ever comprehensive brand study, led a major website redesign and implemented a successful institutional rebranding campaign.
Prior to joining Rider, Brown directed communications for the New Jersey Department of Children and Families, a $1.6 billion state agency, where she managed long-term public relations planning and spearheaded a departmental rebrand and major awareness campaigns.
Across her career, Brown has built a reputation for assembling and mentoring high-performing teams, integrating marketing and communications strategies, and delivering measurable results in enrollment, fundraising and stakeholder engagement.
"I am thrilled and honored to join Bucknell University, an institution that clearly blends strong tradition with forward momentum," Brown says. "I'm eager to help tell Bucknell's story in new and meaningful ways, sharing the experiences and achievements of a community so deeply committed to excellence, innovation and personal connection. This is an incredible opportunity to help amplify the University's voice and advance its authentic mission and vibrant future."
Brown earned both her master of arts in corporate and public communication and her bachelor of arts in public relations and journalism from Monmouth University, where she was recognized with the Mazzotti Award in Women's Leadership.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Brown serves on the Board of Trustees for the American Repertory Ballet/Princeton Ballet School and has taught as an adjunct instructor at Rider.
