University Faculty Meeting

Whether you are an experienced meditation practitioner or a brand new beginner, you are welcome to attend weekly mindfulness meditation sessions in the Meditation Chapel on Tuesdays 12:00-12:45, beginning on January 21st. Kim Daubman, professor emerita and certified meditation teacher, will lead the sessions. Sessions will include some discussion of the benefits of meditation and how to sustain a practice, but the bulk of the time will be spent in lightly guided meditation. Patricia Villalobos Echeverría has a hybrid practice of prints, photos, video, installations and participatory projects that pivot around issues of migration, navigation, displacement and transformation. She was born in 1965 in Memphis, Tennessee to Salvadoran parents and grew up in Managua, Nicaragua. She received a Doctor of Arts from the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław, Poland, an MFA from West Virginia University and a BFA from Louisiana State University. Her projects have been exhibited in North, Central and South America, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia. She is the recipient of the National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures Artist Grant, the Oregon Arts Council Fellowship, PA Council for the Arts Fellowship, Creative Heights Residency Fellowship from the Heinz Endowment and has been an artist in residence at Ox-Bow, Artist Image Resource, The Studio for Creative Inquiry at Carnegie Mellon University and the MacDowell Arts Colony.https://patriciavillalobos.com/ (https://patriciavillalobos.com/) *The opening reception will feature a special ride on a rickshaw!

Tuesday, March 4, 2025 7:00p-8:30p Campus Theatre, Market Street, Lewisburg Description: Director Mstyslav Chernov and his fellow AP reporters document the Russian Army's 2022 siege of Mariupol from within the war zone in this Oscar-winning film, depicting the brutality and horror of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Chernov's footage reveals the reality of this conflict, and serves as a vital reminder of the importance of on-the-ground journalism in conveying truth and countering propaganda. Programming Series Fellows: Zukhra Kasimova, Assistant Professor of History Lenora Murphy, Assistant Teaching Professor of Russian Studies Amanda Wooden, Professor of Environmental Studies & Sciences The film screening is sponsored by the Bucknell Humanities Center and the Bucknell University Film and Media Studies Program.
